School bus careens into building after crash

A school bus collided with a car and ended up slamming into a storefront in Brooklyn early Thursday.

The incident happened around 6:10 a.m. at the intersection of East 21st Street and Church Avenue in Flatbush.

Authorities say the mini school bus was hit from behind by a white four-door Toyota in the middle of the intersection after that driver ran a red ligth. Both vehicles went out of control, sending the bus careening into the building. The car crashed into a parked car.

Passengers of both vehicles were taken to Kings County Hospital and Maimonides Medical Center with unknown injuries. The bus driver and matron were hurt, but there were no children on the bus at the time.

The buildings department will determine the structural integrity of the building.
