Brooklyn day care provider changing after 43 years

NEW YORK

The Horace C. Green day care center has been taking care of kids for 43 years, but on Friday, the center's operators must turn over the keys to a new provider.

The day care center is located on Hart Street.

The center cares for 115 children, ages 2 to 4 years old. The halls are decorated with colorful artwork, the classrooms are neat and orderly.

But the center is about to experience a major overhaul. As part of the early learn program, the Administration for Children's Services is taking the contract away from the Bushwick Improvement Center, and granted it to another provider.

The Bushwick United Housing development fund is a private not for profit group that will bring in its own staff and teachers, October 1st.

Educational director Rhonda Webb will be leaving after for more than a decade.

Parents worry about their children having to adjust to new staff.
