Sketch released of suspect in Queens sex assault

NEW YORK

Now, police have released a sketch of the suspect.

Authorities say the girl's father awoke to noises and discovered the suspect at 1:20 a.m. in his 3-yaer-old daughter's bedroom.

The victim was transported to Jamaica Hospital where she was listed in stable condition.

"I'm mortified by the situation, mortified," the victim's mother said. "I feel terrible."

The mother of the young girl, who we are not identifying, says that her little girl is okay, but neighbors are worried sick.

"Just three years old," area resident Dorris Goldson said. "Three years old, oh my God."

There are few words, just tears and a red face filled with emotion as Goldson, 79, and her son struggle to digest what happened to their neighbor.

"The cops said the kid was assaulted, but the cops never really explained what happened," Al Goldson said.

Detectives knocked on the Goldsons' door early Thursday morning as they investigated a 911 call about a burglar on 88th Avenue in Jamaica.

"The cops were outside and all over the place, and he was just standing in the doorway," Al Goldson said.

Police say the father chased off the intruder, but then noticed his daughter was no longer wearing her pajama pants.

"I have kids too, and this never happened on this street before," said Radha Persaud, a neighbor.

Investigators spent the day on the block collecting evidence inside the home and in search of surveillance video.

Radha Persaud says police downloaded video from her surveillance system that she monitors through a live feed on her cell phone.

The father told authorities he believed the suspect, described as a Hispanic man, was extremely drunk.

Numerous homes on the street have surveillance cameras, and detectives were examining the footage.

So far, no arrests have been made.

The NYPD says the suspect is between 25 and 35 years old and was wearing a grey shirt and black jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
