School bus crashes into house on Long Island

SYOSSET, New York

The bus crashed into the house Jackson Avenue just after 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

The bus was removed shortly before 5 p.m.

Nobody was home at the time of the accident.

The driver was leaving the /*St. Edwards the Confessor School*/ school when police believe the driver had some type of medical emergency, when he slammed on the accelerator and slammed into the home.

Five 5 to 8-year-olds were on board and all were sent home with their parents.

The driver was airlifted to the hospital in unknown condition.

The owner of the house who works for the Syosset Fire Department, got a call from a dispatcher saying a car was in the house.

"As long as the kids are okay, that's what I have insurance for," he said.

The crash as across the street from St. Edwards the Confesssor School.
