Ex-Marine police killing justified in report

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.

The finding echoes a grand jury that found no crime had been committed in the 2011 killing of 68-year-old /*Kenneth Chamberlain*/.

But Randolph McLaughlin, a lawyer for Chamberlain's family, said Wednesday the study was a whitewash. He says it will have no bearing on a $21 million lawsuit against the city and eight officers.

Police were checking on Chamberlain's health when, they said, he came at them with a knife and hatchet. He was hit with a stun gun, beanbags and finally gunshots.

The study, requested by the city, finds the Police Department "extremely professional." But it does make several recommendations, including better training for dealing with emotionally disturbed people.
