Police search for suspect in supermarket parking lot shooting

NORWALK

The shooting happened in the parking lot of the /*Super Stop and Shop*/ on Connecticut Avenue.

Police say they are tracking down several leads and reviewing video but at the moment the gunman remains on the loose.

The shooting has /*Norwalk*/ Police scrambling to find a suspect.

The incident happened Wednesday when a suspect approached a 50-year-old victim getting into her car. Police say a witness saw the entire thing.

"They saw what appeared to be a little bit of a struggle and then heard a pop, which they thought to be a shot," said Chief Thomas Kulhawik.

Police dogs tracked a scent to a nearby housing complex but there were no arrests.

The victim was shot once in the stomach and is expected to recover.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 20's, 6'0" tall 220 pounds and wearing a black hoodie.

Police say they are tracking down several leads but at the same time trying to reassure the public.

"These random incidents are impossible to predict. They happen everywhere from time to time," adds Chief Kulhawik.

Police believe since the victim parked in a remote section of the parking lot, she might have been targeted for not being in a wide open area.
