Rare cheetah litter born at Australian zoo

A rare multiple birth has been captured on camera at a South Australian zoo.

The arrival of five baby cheetahs is not only a spectacular sight, but a welcome boost for the endangered species.

It is the first full cheetah litter at the Open Range Monarto Zoo in eight years.

Just five months ago, the mother gave birth to a single female cub. But these little ones will have to nurse for a while before they join their big sister.

It will be at least a month before the public sees them.

Only three Australasian zoos have ever successfully bred cheetahs. They are Africa's most endangered big cat, so any birth is significant.
