At his home in Springfield Gardens, Queens Eyewitness News tried to talk with his family, but they were not prepared to talk.
Eyewitness News is now learning more about Fuller's criminal past.
He was convicted of attempted murder in 2004 and served his mandatory state time of five years.
While on parole about a year later, he was arrested again for selling crack cocaine in Nassau.
According to sources at that time Fuller was allowed to plead down from a felony to a misdemeanor.
Instead of serving what could have been up to 9 years, he only served his required nine months for violating his parole.
"We're going to ask the Attorney General to step in to figure out how this guy was released," said James Carver, with Nassau PBA.
We're told that Fuller's mother is a retired nurse, his father a retired engineer.
Remembering Fallen Officer
As they prepare, once again, to bury one of their own, Nassau police stood silently on either side of the road as the body of their fellow Officer Arthur Lopez was brought from the hospital to the funeral home.
Lopez, a Nassau County police officer for 8 years, was a rising star in his unit.
"He was loved by everybody. He was a top notch cop after 5 years on the job. He went to the elite emergency services unit. That's almost unheard of," James Carver, Nassau County PBA, said.
Big men, strong men, turned to each other to face the horrifying murder of one of their own. The loss is staggering.
"We take it as a family that lost a brother," said Lt. Adam Scheiner, Nassau County Police Department.
Officer Arthur Lopez was a good cop and an even better man.
It was unthinkable they say, that Lopez was brutally gunned down by a violent parolee on Tuesday in Queens less than 24 hours after he attended the funeral of another Nassau police officer Joseph Olivieri.
Meanwhile, in Flushing Officer Lopez's grieving mother wept outside her apartment for the son who called her every single day.
Lopez had a home in Babylon where residents called him the perfect neighbor. He also leaves behind his sister and father, who would have been planning his 30th birthday party next month, but now they are planning his funeral.
"My heart goes out to the parents. To lose a child, you never want to bury your child," neighbor Sherrell Jordan said.
The wake for Officer Lopez will be held on Thursday and Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the firehouse in Merrick. The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Baldwin.
