Authorities are still trying to figure out why a car crashed into a home on Long Island Thursday, narrowly missing a mother and her young daughter.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. on Henry Road in North Merrick.

Tara Soffientini and her 2-month-old daughter Lucy Ray were sitting on the living room couch when the car rammed down a fence and smashed into the back of the house.

No one was seriously hurt, but Soffientini and Lucy were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

No charges have been filed in the case.
