Still no power for residents in Knickerbocker Village

NEW YORK

They lost power on the day of the superstorm and they are still in the dark.

Knickerbocker Village is a rent-controlled complex near Chinatown made up of 12, 13-story brick buildings and most have been without power since the storm.

Residents have been struggling to stay warm. They are using blankets and boiling water on their stove tops.

Eyewitness News tried to speak with an on-call supervisor, but no one responded.

Nearly two weeks after the storm, thousands across the tri-state area are still without power.

As Eyewitness News was there, a generator was delivered.

Residents hope is that it gets hooked up sooner rather than later.

On Monday night temperatures were flirting with freezing and a 101-year-old woman died at Knickerbocker Village.

Sunday, emergency officials say local leaders will be meeting with management to find out why the power hasn't been restored.
