It's not clear what caused the crash, which occurred just after 6 a.m. Sunday in a northbound lane near mile marker 143.6 in Irvington.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident, and no other injuries were reported.
Authorities say the two victims, a male driver and a female passenger, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
But further details on their injuries were not disclosed.
It was not immediately clear whether any other passengers were in the vehicle, Polite said.
