Father, son charged in bizarre Long Island kidnapping

Authorities say the 24-year-old Coram man was getting into his parked car that on Wilson Avenue in Middle Island at approximately 4 p.m. when he was approached by two men who forced him at gunpoint to drive them around.

After approximately an hour and forty five minutes, the men made the victim pull into the Plaza 16 shopping center parking lot, located at 16 Middle Country Road, in Coram. When the men got out of the vehicle and went into the Dominican Star Bodega, which is located in the shopping center, the victim escaped and called 911.

Within a few minutes from the time of the call, officers arrested 40-year-old Sheldon Davis, who was outside of the bodega, and 22-year-old Latif Davis, who was still in the bodega.

Both are charged with kidnapping and menacing. Latif Davis was also charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
