The pair was spotted trotting through a shopping center parking lot and on Victory Boulevard shortly after 9:00 a.m.
Zachary Osher, who owns a business in the area, took video of the zebra and the pony, followed by two men in dark suits carrying lassoes.
The search continued for the animals until they were caught around 2:00 this afternoon through a joint effort with the Parks Department, NYPD and FDNY.
The animals have been returned to their owner's yard at the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Travis Avenue.
The animals have been identified as Razzi, the zebra, and 15-year-old Casper, a Shetland pony.
How they escaped is under investigation.
