Police search for suspects in Elmont puppy theft

A puppy was stolen from a Long Island pet store, and police are hoping surveillance images will lead to the arrest of two suspects.

Crime Stoppers and the Nassau County Police Department are seeking the public's help in identifying the supects, who are facing grand larceny charges over the theft of a Pomeranian in Elmont.

The incident happened at Zoo Rama on Hempstead Turnpike on Saturday, June 23, 2012, just after noon.

Police say the suspects distracted the store employee and exited the store with the puppy, which is valued at $1,400.

A $5,000 reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
