There's an alert about the next year's New York City Marathon.

Registration for the race is now on hold.

Registration was set to begin Wednesday, but marathon organizers are still trying to work through details related to the cancellation of this year's marathon in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

In a statement released Tuesday night organizers said, "We are working hard to resolve all issues resulting from the cancellation of the marathon as quickly as possible. We will share information as soon as it becomes available. We thank runners for their continued patience and support."
