Seven-year-old Mia Bendrat's dog Marley was stolen from outside of a grocery store on Christmas Eve. But on Tuesday, Tina Cohen happened to see a man trying to sell the Cavalier King Charles spaniel on the street.
So she bought the dog from him and then called the police.
Now, 29-year-old Brandon Bacon is in custody in connection with the dognapping, and Mia has her beloved pet back.
Cohen bought Marley for $220 so she could take him to her veterinarian's office to be scanned for a microchip, but the vet couldn't immediately find the family because they hadn't registered the chip yet. It's a reminder for families with pets to do that, and watch your animals if you tie them up outside a store.
