Caught on video: Cops lift taxi off man in Bronx

NEW YORK

Enrique Elias recorded the rescue on his cell phone early Sunday morning. It's what brings him to tears.

About a half-dozen police officers from the 40th precinct freed a man who was pinned underneath a yellow cab by physically lifting it in the air.

The accident happened just before 3:00 a.m. Sunday. Police say a 19 year old man suddenly ran into the street right in the path of yellow cab near the intersection of East 138th Street and Brown Place in the /*Mott Haven*/ section of the Bronx.

Elias, overheard all of the commotion from his 3rd floor apartment, and peeked his head out of the window. He says the whole scene played out in less than 60 seconds.

The victim's name has not been released. He's in critical condition at Lincoln Hospital. No charges are expected in the case.
