Four-alarm fire guts commercial building in Queens

CORONA

The blaze broke out at 104-15 Northern Boulevard in Corona around 9:30 p.m.

More than 120 firefighters and 60 units battled for four hours before getting the fire under control.

And while they were able to prevent the flames from spreading to neighborhood homes, they were unable to save a storefront church. That church, the Church of God in Christ International, was destroyed.

The fire also gutted several businesses, including a sign shop, and damaged another church.

One firefighter was treated for a neck injury, but no one else was hurt.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
