Boston Bruins hockey team visits Newtown

NEWTOWN, Conn.

But a visit from the Boston Bruins certainly gave Sandy Hook students a reason to smile.

The team stopped off at their new school Monday, offering students autographs, games and even a picture posing with the Stanley Cup.

Members of the NHL team held a street hockey clinic and instructed the high school's hockey team.

Coach Claude Julien participated, along with players Chris Bourque, Andrew Ference, Dougie Hamilton, Aaron Johnson, Adam McQuaid, Daniel Paille and Rich Peverley.

Natalie Green Hammond, Sandy Hook Elementary School's vice principal and a Bruins fan, also has been invited to drop the first puck at the team's March 3 game against Montreal.
