Officers responded to a 911 call of a shooting in front of Empire Bar and Lounge at about 3:15 a.m.
When they arrived, police say there was a large crowd outside and people were fighting.
The shooting victim, 25-year old Randell Hollman of Mastic Beach, was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue.
He was pronounced dead on arrival.
