Full PATH service returns for first time since Sandy

NEWARK, N.J.

Full service returns to the PATH system this weekend.

The last remaining part of the system that has been out since Sandy is weekend service between World Trade Center and Exchange Place in Jersey City.

That service resumes Friday night for the first time since the storm.

Trains have been running between World Trade and Exchange Place during the week.

Officials had been waiting for a shipment of replacement parts necessary to restoring service on the line.

Salt water flooded the Hoboken tunnels during Sandy, shorting out electrical system and corroding equipment.

Officials say many of the parts were decades old and replacements had to come from a third-party manufacturer.
