Two New Jersey women under arrest for machete threat towards teenage boy

GARFIELD, New Jersey

Police say Alexandra Vargas came home Tuesday afternoon to find a 15 year-old boy in her house with her 15 year-old daughter.

The boy ran to hide in the bathroom, but not fast enough.

The mother confronted him in the bathroom and began striking him in the chest with her fists," said Darren Sucorowski, with the Garfield Police Department.

And that was just the beginning.

"She grab a machete asks for his cell phone and then begins smashing the phone with the machete. After that she still has the machete and informs him that he's not leaving the residence," adds Sucorowski.

Instead police say she called her companion Shaina Carter who came right over.

"It's reported that the friend strikes the boy with a metal object several times in the arm," he adds.

Eventually after beating and terrorizing the teen, police say they pair let him leave, but made him go without his shoes.

Vargas and Carter are both behind bars facing a number of charges including aggravated assault, criminal restraint and endangering the welfare of a child.
