Getting to the New York International Auto Show

NEW YORK There's several ways to get there. Scroll below for all of the travel information, so you don't miss out on all of the fun!

BY CAR:

From the North (Westchester, Connecticut, Massachusetts)

95 South (via the Cross Bronx Expressway) to the George Washington Bridge: At the approach to the GWB, bear right to the lower level. Exit at the last exit in New York Parkway South 9A. Follow Parkway South (Henry Hudson Parkway/West Side Parkway) to 42nd street. Turn left, go one block to 11th ave, turn right.

Saw Mill River/Henry Hudson Parkway/Route 9A:follow 9A South to 42nd Street. Turn left and go one block to 11th ave, and turn right.

New York State Thruway/Major Deegan Expressway/Route 87: Major Deegan Expressway to George Washington Bridge exit. Stay in right lane towards lower level. Exit at the last exit in New York Parkway South 9A. Follow Parkway South (Henry Hudson Parkway/West Side Highway) to 42nd Street. Turn left. Go one block to 11th Avenue and turn right.

From the South (New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, etc.)

95 North to the New Jersey Turnpike. Exit at the Lincoln Tunnel. When exiting the tunnel, bear left. Follow signs for uptown or northbound to 42nd Street. Turn left onto 42nd Street until you reach 11th Avenue and turn left.

George Washington Bridge to Parkway South 9A. At 42nd Street, turn left. Go one block to 11th Avenue and turn right.

From Queens and Long Island

Queens-Midtown Tunnel:Take Southbound or Downtown exit to 34th Street and turn right. Go west to 12th Avenue and turn right on 12th Avenue to 39th Street where you turn right.

Queensboro/59th Street Bridge: Take 60/61st Street Exit. Go to 5th Avenue alongside Central Park to 59th Street. Turn right onto 59th Street to 7th Avenue and turn left. Go two blocks to 57th Street and turn right. Follow 57th Street to 11th Avenue and turn left.

From Staten Island

Verrazano-Narrows Bridge eastbound to the Gowanus Expressway, to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. Exit westbound to the West Side Highway/12th Avenue. At 39th Street, turn right. Go one block to 11th Avenue.

Parking

The Jacob Javits Convention Center does not have a parking facility, however there are many parking garages around the center for you to choose from. We have made a note of all parking facilities in the area around the Convention Center but we recommend that you call ahead to confirm hours and rates.

Edison ParkFast, a partner of the 2013 New York International Auto Show offers competitive rates for parking around the Jacob Javits Convention Center. Please check their website for locations and rates go to "a href="http://www.parkfast.com" target="new">Parkfast.com.

For those coming from New Jersey, Edison Park Fast also offers Parking at the Secaucus Park and Ride where you can then take New Jersey Transit to Penn Station.

BY RAIL:

LIRR from Suffolk and Nassau counties

Save when you take the LIRR to the auto show. Discount package includes up to 30 percent savings on LIRR off-peak round-trip rail fare and the following admission to the show when you purchase your combo ticket at LIRR Stations:
  • Adults: $12
  • Children: $2.50
Seniors 65 and older should check current regular admission and rail fare and compare with adult package price.

Combo tickets are available at LIRR ticket machines and ticket offices only.

From Penn Station

Jacob K. Javits Convention Center
34-39th St. & 11th Ave.

Walking: Use Penn 34th St. Entrance; walk west to 11th Ave.

Bus: From the corner of 34th St. and 8th Ave., use the M34 westbound to Javits Center.

Metro North from Westchester and Connecticut

Save when you take the Metro-North Railroad to the auto show. Discount package includes up to 30 percent savings on round-trip rail fare from your boarding station, plus discount admission: adults/seniors/disabled/individuals receiving medicare.

Metro-North monthly ticket holders who wish to purchase only the auto show admission ticket must do so at a Metro-North ticket office (excluding Grand Central). Discount will not be honored by presenting your rail pass at the Auto Show. Combo tickets are available at Metro North ticket machines and ticket offices only.

Getting There

From Grand Central Terminal take the westbound M42 (Javits Center) bus (42nd Street between Park and Vanderbilt avenues) to the last stop. (Bus fare is not included in package price).

BY FERRY:

NY Waterway is one of the fastest and easiest ways to get to the Jacob Javits Center and we have now made it even easier with a NY Waterway/New York International Auto Show Combo Ticket. The combo ticket includes a roundtrip ferry ride from Port Imperial Terminal in Weehawken, N.J. to the Midtown/West 39th Street Terminal. NY Waterway Shuttle will then drop you off directly in front of the Javits Center.

BY TAXI:

Newark International Airport: The set fare from New York City to Newark International Airport is the regular metered rate of fare, plus a $15.00 surcharge, plus all tolls going to and returning from the airport.

John F. Kennedy International Airport: The TLC has established a "Flat Fare" program for trips from JFK to Manhattan. The flat fare is $45.00 plus any tolls. The reverse is not true, however, as there is no set fare to JFK from any point in New York City. The metered rate applies.

LaGuardia International Airport: There is no set fare for trips to and from LaGuardia International Airport. The regular metered rate of fare, as is displayed below, applies in all cases.

Metered Taxi Rates

New York State Tax Surcharge of $.50 per ride

  • $2.50 upon entry
  • $.40 for each additional unit
  • $.40 per minute of waiting time
  • $.50 night surcharge after 8:00 p.m. and prior to 6:00 a.m.
The unit of fare is: one-fifth of a mile, when the taxicab is traveling at 6 miles an hour or more; or 60 seconds when not in motion or traveling at less than 12 miles per hour

The taximeter shall combine fractional measures of distance and time to accrue a unit of fare. Any combination of distance or time shall be computed by the taximeter in accordance with the National Bureau of Standards. The fare shall include pre-assessment of the unit currently being accrued; the amount due may therefore include a full unit charge for a final, fractional unit.

Different variables such as heavy traffic and tolls should be taken into account in gauging the final cost of your trip.

BY SUBWAY:

Please keep in mind that the public transportation fare as of July 2009 is $2.25. The subways accept MetroCards. Buses accept MetroCards and exact change fares. With MetroCards you can transfer from subway to bus and bus to subway for one fare. MetroCards are available at the Javits Center as well as local stores.

Train and Subway Lines

The following trains stop at 34th Street/Penn Station:
The Long Island Railroad, Amtrak, New Jersey Transit, PATH (33rd Street and 6th Avenue) and the following subway lines:
  • Via 8th Avenue: A,C, E
  • Via 7th Avenue: 1, 2, 3
  • Via 6th/7th Avenue: B, D, F, N, Q, R
  • Via Lexington Avenue: 4, 5, 6
The following trains stop at 42nd Street: Metro North Railroad trains stop at Grand Central Station at 42nd Street between Lexington and Vanderbilt Avenues as well as the following subway lines:
  • Via 8th Avenue: A, C, E
  • Via 7th Avenue: 1, 2, 3, 7, N, Q, R, S
  • Via 6th Avenue: B, D, F

M34: Runs east/west on 34th Street. Stops on 11th Avenue outside the Javits Center and at Penn Station.

M42: Runs east/west on 42nd street. Stops directly outside the Javits Center and at Grand Central Station.

Port Authority

New Jersey Transit and other buses arrive at the Port Authority terminal at 42nd Street between 8th and 9th Avenues. The M42 will bring you from there to the Javits Center.

From New Jersey

Academy Bus operates weekday and weekend service to New York's Port Authority from multiple locations in Monmouth, Ocean, Middlesex and Burlington counties, including: Route 9, Lakewood/Old Bridge Route 36, Route 35, Long Branch , Westampton, Hightstown, Point Pleasant/Shore Points, PNC Bank Arts Center, Jackson, Sayreville and Forked River.
