The Course, The Finish, Where to Watch

NEW YORK- START, COURSE, AND FINISH
The course takes runners on a tour of Manhattan: from Central Park through Times Square, along the West Side Highway, and around the southern tip of the island to a riverside finish at the South Street Seaport. An improved course this year will extend the race farther from Central Park and alleviate crowding. Runners will start on Central Park's West Drive near 64th Street, just south of the famed finish line of the ING New York City Marathon, and head southeast.

Runners start on Central Park's West Drive near 64th Street, head south, and make a complete counter-clockwise loop of the park. They then continue to the southern end of the park, exit onto Seventh Avenue, and head south to Times Square. A right turn onto 42nd Street takes runners to 12th Avenue (West Side Highway), where they turn right, go north for two blocks, and then turn around at 44th Street and run south along the Hudson River waterfront on the West Side Highway to Lower Manhattan. They take the Battery Park Underpass to FDR Drive and take the South Street exit, cross over South Street onto Old Slip, turn right onto Water Street and continue to the finish line on Water Street at Wall Street.

The course includes 11 aid stations supplying water and Gatorade Endurance Formula; the station just before Mile 9 will also supply Power Bar Energy Gels.
