Albany nixes plan for New York City speed cameras

Lawmakers in Albany have put the brakes on the idea of installing dozens of red light cameras near schools in New York City.

This is the third straight year that the Legislature has refused to include the plan in the new state budget.

The idea was to install 40 cameras to catch people speeding in school zones.

Some lawmakers, though, say the technology has proven to be unreliable.
