Out-of-control taxi crashes into pole on Long Island

An out-of-control taxi driver on Long Island sent a Long Island Power Authority pole onto the roof of a strip mall.

The crash happened on Route 25A in Miller Place around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The driver also slammed into the front of a row of stores, which suffered extensive damage from both the taxi and the pole.

Thje driver had to stay in his car until police could make the scene safe from electrical shock.

He was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.
