Man indicted for punching, injuring puppy in Brooklyn

NEW YORK

Prosecutors in Brooklyn say lex Dykes has been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, overdriving, torturing and injuring animals and failure to provide proper sustenance for animals.

According to the indictment, the 49-year-old Dykes and his girlfriend were dog-sitting Bentley for a friend last September.

Dykes allegedly got angry at Bentley and punched him in the head, causing the dog to suffer a skull fracture.

Prosecutors say a caller phoned the ASPCA's Abuse Line saying Dykes was refusing to provide the animal veterinarian care.

When investigators arrived they found Bentley curled into a ball and unable to stand straight. Prosecutors say Bentley has suffered permanent brain damage.
