Sketch released in Lower Manhattan sex assault

NEW YORK

The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. near Chrystie Street and Grand Street on April 15.

Authorities say the 38-year-old victim, a tourist visiting a friend, was attacked by two men she had just asked for directions. The victim was walking from Grand Street to East Broadway, where she was planning to board a bus home.

One of the men provided those directions, then offered to walk her to the bus stop. That's when the second man allegedly grabbed her from behind and pinned her against a wall, while the first man punched her in the ribs and thigh.

He then sexually abused her before robbing her of her purse and fleeing the scene. The sketch is of that first suspect.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
