Police say woman stabbed another woman, then herself

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y.

The incident happened Friday afternoon in Rockville Centre.

Officers saw 35-year old Farah Lamarre of Hempstead Avenue standing in the middle of a roadway holding what appeared to be a kitchen knife.

As a sergeant approached, police say she ran out of the roadway onto the sidewalk and stabbed a 26 year old woman in the shoulder, upper left arm and right hand.

According to police, Lamarre then dropped to the ground and stabbed herself in the throat.

She then quickly got up and ran into her home locking her door, preventing the sergeant from entering.

Police say exited the home with additional lacerations to both wrists, but ran inside for a second time.

As she exited for a third time, police were able to take her into custody.

Lamarre was placed under arrest and transported to a local hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries.

The victim was also hospitalized with non life threatening injuries.

Lamarre is being charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon 4th Degree and Resisting Arrest.
