Rain delays demolition of Hurricane Sandy-wrecked homes

MANTOLOKING

The ground is too soft for trucks to start demolishing the first of 50 storm-wrecked houses in Mantoloking.

It's the second delay for the project. The lack of an air quality monitoring team prevented the tear-down of a house on Tuesday.

All of Mantoloking's 521 homes were either damaged or destroyed by the storm, which cut a new channel from the ocean to the Barnegat Bay.

The Ocean County borough will be one of the Jersey shore spots visited next week by Britain's Prince Harry.
