Glen Cove superintendent resigns amid cheating scandal

GLEN COVE, N.Y.

The Glen Cove Board of Education accepted Joseph Laria's resignation Thursday night.

He is stepping down seven weeks ahead of his planned retirement.

The board did not address claims that Laria allowed a high school student to drive his car in a parking lot.

The Nassau County DA is investigating reports that teachers in the district gave students answers on tests last year.
