Transit officials said Thursday they're exploring alternatives to the plywood and sandbags they've used in the past to keep stormwater out of tunnels and stations.
For example, Interim MTA Executive Director Thomas Prendergast said removable lids could be placed over subway grates and sealed shut.
Eight of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's underwater tunnels flooded during the storm last October.
Most of the subway lines were out for only a few days, but parts of the system have taken much longer to repair.
The MTA said "A'' train service to the Rockaways will resume May 30.
