Paul Collins was arrested at his home on Pleasant Avenue in Centereach.
United States Marshal's New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force and Arlington (Massachusetts) Police assisted in the arrest.
Collins served as a swim coach and the Aquatics Director for the Arlington Boys and Girls Club in Massachusetts between 1978 to 1980 and met his victims, four males, through his involvement with the club.
He is charged with rape of a child, indecent assault and other related charges.
Collins, 62, was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday, and then transported to Massachusetts by members of the Arlington Police Department.
Detectives are investigating if Collins, who resided in Suffolk County for nearly a decade, committed similar crimes in Suffolk County and are asking anyone with information about Collins and possible victims to call the Special Victims Section at 631-852-6184 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
