Michael Fugee will appear in court in Hackensack Tuesday after his arrest on charges of contempt of a judicial order.
Fugee confessed to police in 2000 that he grabbed a boy's crotch and was convicted of aggravated criminal assault three years later. The conviction was thrown out on a legal technicality.
Fugee reached a deal with prosecutors that allowed him to return to the ministry if his job didn't involve parishioners under 18.
Fugee became a fixture at a Colts Neck parish, where he went on youth retreats and heard confession from minors.
The Newark Archdiocese says it will cooperate with law enforcement.
