Cops: New Jersey men scammed on tickets, beat random teen

ENGLEWOOD

Police in Englewood say Robert Brancaccio and Raymond Sorg arranged to meet the guy who scammed them on Craigslist.

But authorities say they then mistook a 17-year-old passing by for the scam artist and beat him up.

Brancaccio, of Hillsdale, and Sorg, of Ridgefield Park, face aggravated assault charges stemming from Saturday night's attack.

The victim, who was headed to work when he was attacked, suffered a shoulder injury.

Authorities say the two men had bought four tickets online for $640. But when they tried to enter the arena, they were told their tickets were fraudulent.

When they discovered the same seller, 41-year-old Troy Harrell of the Bronx, hawking more tickets, they arranged another meeting to confront him. But they mistakenly attacked the innocent teen.

Harell faces multiple counts of theft by deception.
