Another train derailment

May 28, 2013

This time it's outside Baltimore - in White Marsh. A freight train - perhaps hitting a truck, and then derailing. And then, less than two minutes later, kaboom. A huge explosion that led to the collapse of several surrounding buildings, and sent enormous balls of black smoke into the air.

We still don't know what was inside. Fortunately, no people were. We'll have the latest, tonight at 11.

We're also covering yet another mayoral candidate forum, as the folks would want to become the next Mayor of New York continue their quests. But now comes word that Anthony Weiner, the disgraced former Congressman who resigned after a sexting scandal, is rising in the polls. The latest Marist Poll shows Mr. Weiner with 19 percent of the vote, while City Council Speaker Christine Quinn has dropped to just 24 point. The race is tightening.

Also at 11, the unidentified woman whose body was found last night in a car trunk in Queens, tonight is believed to be that of a missing 42-year old woman. Cops haven't yet released her name, but the car belonged to the missing woman. And moments ago, authorities said her death was indeed a homicide.

We'll also have any breaking news of the night, plus Meteorologist Lee Goldberg's wet and then hot AccuWeather forecast, and Rob Powers with the night's sports. I hope you can join Sade Baderinwa and me, tonight at 11.
