It's a heartbreaking story, but now some kind people are helping him get the care he needs to recover.
A Bichon Frise mix with a giant heart and gentle touch.
But this adorable dog, now called Snoopy, has had a rough couple of days.
Wednesday morning his snout and mouth were held tightly closed with duct tape, his coat was grey and black from dirt, and he was bruised and cut.
He's been taken in by Second Chance Rescue and cared for like their own.
Louis Barbarelli is a Sergeant with the NYPD, and is on vacation, but got a frantic call Wednesday morning about the dog, who was found in the Soundview section of the Bronx behind an apartment building.
People living there say Snoopy was in a courtyard for days and then mysteriously ended up in an elevator with shoe laces tightly wound around his neck, and the strings wrapped around a banister in the elevator.
A woman heading out spotted Snoopy Wednesday morning.
The folks at Second Chance Rescue brought him to Valhalla Animal Hospital where they cleaned him up.
Once the tape was off, Snoopy drank tons of water and has been a perfect angel ever since.
