The Newark man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend in East Orange will have his first court appearance Thursday.

Al-Muqqadin Means, 18, allegedly shot 17-year-old Aquilla Flood because she refused his prom invitation.

Flood had recently been voted prom queen at Campus High School in East Orange.

She was supposed to receive her crown Thursday and graduate this coming Saturday.

Instead, she was laid to rest Wednesday.

Prosecutors allege Means somehow sneaked into the home and shot Flood in the head while she laid in bed. She was found dead by her mother hours later.
