Arrest in deadly stabbing of livery cab driver in Brooklyn

NEW YORK

Authorities say Uro Ama Orji, 54, was stabbed in the eye with an umbrella during a verbal dispute at Lott Avenue and Thomas Boyland Street in Brownsville last Thursday evening.

After he was attacked, Orji tried to drive away, but he crashed into two parked cars.

Orji was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead

Eyewitnesses told police they saw a man and woman running from the scene.

Shamel Allen of Brooklyn is also facing weapons charges in the case. A second arrest has not been made.

The NYPD is offering a $12,000 reward and the New York State Livery Federation is offering a $5,000 reward for an arrest and conviction in the case.
