Fire injures 5 people on Central Park South

NEW YORK

The fire started in a 14th floor apartment in a building near Columbus Circle at 7:00 Saturday morning.

The man and woman who live in the unit suffered smoke inhalation and burns.

Three firefighters were also treated for minor injuries. According to published reports, emergency crews were delayed when the nearby fire hydrant wasn't working.

The FDNY described the inside of the apartment as extremely cluttered, which likely fueled the blaze.
