New videos released in Brooklyn cop shooting

EAST NEW YORK

Officer Jamil Sarwar was shot in the leg on Sutter Avenue in East New York late Thursday night while responding to another shooting.

Now, police are hoping the new videos will lead to an arrest.

Cops are still maintaining a presence at the Cypress Hills Houses, where the incident took place just before 11 p.m. on July 4.

The videos show a possible suspect and possible witness of the shooting, of which Sarwar was caught in the crossfire.

Investigators say Sarwar was responding to a call of a shooting when the suspect or suspects opened fire. He and his partner ducked for cover inside the lobby of a building, where Sarwar realized he had been struck in the thigh as the gunman or gunmen fled.

Sarwar was released from the hospital on Friday and is expected to make a full recovery.

Anyone with information in regards is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). A $10,000 reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest.
