'Manhattanhenge' phenomenon on display Friday night

July 13, 2013 10:04:43 AM PDT
It happens just four times a year, and Friday night was one of them. It was the phenomenon known as "Manhattanhenge."

It's when the sun lines up with Manhattan's street grid, spreading light across the north and south sides of every cross street.

It happens twice in the summer months, with the first coming back on May 29.

You'll also be able to see it twice this winter during the rising sun.

Manhattanhenge was expected at 8:23 p.m. A half sunset can be seen Saturday at 8:24 p.m.
