Comeback candidates?

July 15, 2013

Guess who's leading in the latest Quinnipiac University poll? Yup. Eliot Spitzer, ahead 15 percent in the City Comptroller race, and Anthony Weiner, up 3percent in the Mayor's race. They don't exactly send each other Hanukah cards every year, and the thought of Eliot Spitzer as Anthony Weiner's Comptroller - well, it will certainly be lively 'round these parts for four years if each wins their sought-after seat.

We'll have the latest on the races, tonight at 11.

Also at 11, so much reaction to the Trayvon Martin verdict. And here you thought the issue of race was fully vetted and discussed already in this country! So much emotional response, that the analysis of what did and didn't happen in this case seems to be lost. And we're not just talking about the senseless killing of the 17-year-old unarmed Martin by George Zimmerman. The way the prosecution handled the case and Florida law itself are equally at play here. We'd love to know your reaction, as we keep you abreast with the latest developments tonight - including Mr. Zimmerman getting his gun returned, and one of the jurors getting a book deal!

We'll also have any breaking news of the night, plus Meteorologist Lee Goldberg and his AccuWeather forecast - hot enough for you? - and Rob Powers with the night's sports, including the Home Run Derby contest at Citifield as the Mets prep to host the All Star Game tomorrow night.

I hope you can join Sade Baderinwa and me, tonight at 11.
