Long Island College Hospital fight heads back to court

NEW YORK

Public Advocate Bill de Blasio says hospital administrators are in contempt of court for continuing to discharge patients and divert ambulances, despite a temporary restraining order.

The order forces the Cobble Hill Medical Facility to remain open until a hearing on Thursday.

Right now, there are less than a dozen patients at the 250-bed facility.

The emergency restraining order came after it was announced the hospital would shut down by the end of the month.

The hospital has been part of the community for more than 150 years.

The real estate is probably worth a half-billion dollars, and a lot of residents are concerned the hospital land will become condos.
