The Journal News reports Saturday (http://lohud.us/13u0wLr ) the unnamed reptile was captured by police and officers form the state's Environmental Conservation Police Friday.
Police say the 22-inch amphibian was seen roaming around Wilson's Woods Park last week. They say police searched for an hour Friday for the alligator after someone snapped a photo of the creature.
Police say there have been no reports of dangerous run-ins with the alligator.
It is unknown for how long the alligator called Wilson's Woods Park home. Police say the creature may have been dumped there by a previous owner after becoming too big to be a pet.
