The West Indian nations come together as one to celebrate on this day. A multitude of cultures sharing a colorful parade route down Eastern Parkway.
More than a million people attended this end of summer spectacle, this year, its 46th year.
Unfortunately, the day was not without a few violent incidents.
At 5:40 p.m., two people were shot near Bedford Avenue and Montgomery Street. Both victims were taken to Kings County Hospital where their injuries are not believe to be life threatening.
Then at 6:30 p.m., one person was stabbed in the chest near the intersection of Eastern Parkway and Rochester Avenue. The victim was taken to Brookdale Hospital. His condition is not known.
There is also a report of two NYPD officers who suffered minor injuries while trying to get a crowd under control at Nostrand Avenue and Pacific Street.
