Suspect in deadly Bronx crash, stabbing due in court

NEW YORK

Dionis Espinal, 31, has pleaded not guilty in the death of 20-year-old Katherine German.

Police say Espinal, a livery cab driver, followed German after seeing her leave a motel with another man. He allegedly then rammed into the SUV she was in, forcing it off the highway. Then, while German was trapped in the vehicle, police say Espinal stabbed the victim to death.

Espinal is being held without bail.

Police say German had an order of protection against Espinal following a domestic dispute assault in May, while she was pregnant.

"He hit her, he send her to the hospital," the victim's mother, Fernanda Rivera said. "They were living together, but I bring my daughter to my house after that."

Espinal is charged with murder, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal contempt.
