Man rescued after 100-foot fall from New Jersey cliff

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS

Police say 45-year-old Erwin Villacorta, of Chestnut Ridge, New York, had walked off a marked trail through 50 feet of heavy brush to the cliff's edge to see boat activity on the Hudson River when he lost his balance.

Villacorta fell approximately 25 feet, struck a landing area and then fell another 75 feet. He suffered several non-life threatening injuries and was rushed to Hackensack Medical Center in stable condition.

Rescue workers needed to cut away at the foliage to reach the area where Villacorta fell from.

Local charges are pending, and at this time the incident is considered accidental.
