Surveillance video showed the 60-year-old victim, identified as Ju Cui Yu, walking her dog when the van turned the corner at Junction Boulevard and 50th Avenue in Corona and plowed into her.
The driver then backed up and paused for a moment before speeding away.
Yu was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital, where she survived in critical condition overnight. She passed away Monday morning.
Police are searching for the driver.
