With her best friend standing by her side, 23-year-old Green talked about her positive attitude, not looking back at the moment that changed her life forever.
"I woke up, on the floor, in a flower pot, thinking 'What the hell happened?' And then it all came back to me," Green said.
The British fashion student and her pal were enjoying their first full day as tourists in New York City on August 20th when a yellow cab suddenly jumped the curb on Sixth Avenue, crushing Green's legs.
Her left foot was severed, doctors later had to amputate her leg below the knee.
She remembers those who rushed to her aid, including plumber David Justino who used his belt as a tourniquet.
"I just remember hearing his voice saying, 'You're going to be okay, you're going to be okay,'" Green said.
"When did you realize how awful this was?" asked Eyewitness News Reporter Sarah Wallace.
"Only until I got into the ambulance, and he said, holding at the radio, 'Possible amputation," and I was just like 'No. No, no, no," Green said.
Cops later said the accident had been sparked by a road rage incident involving the cabbie and a bike messenger, but so far, neither has been criminally charged.
"In terms of who's to blame, on the criminal side, and the civil side, both have equal blame," said Green's Attorney, Daniel Marchese.
For now, Green just wants to focus on her recovery, as she leaves Bellevue Hospital.
"I'm really homesick. I've been homesick for weeks. So I want to get back to my friends, my family, and get my life back," Green said.
Police say the accident was sparked by a road rage incident between the cabbie and a bike messenger.Neither was criminally charged.
On the same day green left the hospital, cab driver Mohammed Himan got his license back after a 30 day suspension.
Federation of taxi cab drivers spokesperson Fernando Mateo spoke on his behalf.
"He's hurt about what happened. It doesn't ever leave his mind. But has to make a living. It was an accident. He didn't mean to hurt this young lady," he said.
But Green blames both men for the accident.
But right now her focus is on getting a prosthetic leg and going right back to work.
